Darryl Rains: Oakland Stake President
I like Giants baseball, Jazz, skiing, cowboy boots, Debussy, fly fishing, race cars, and rodeos. Additionally, I enjoy spending time with my three grandsons (Andy, Gabe, and Ben); and my wife (Jana).
Greg grew up in Northern California the second of six boys. After serving a mission in Venezuela and graduating from UC Davis, he married Heather Oxley, who he has known since the 7th grade. They spent the first 8 1/2 years of their marriage living in the Boston area, where Greg attended law school and started his career in the law working with financial services companies.
Greg and Heather returned to California in 2002, and shortly after arriving, moved to Moraga where they are raising their four children: Kyle (17), Bekka (15), Samantha (12) and Addison (8). Greg has worked at the same law firm for the past 21 years, finds a great deal of joy spending time with his family, and hopes to have hobbies again one day.
Their family has been season ticket holders for the Saint Mary's men's basketball program for quite a few years now, which has caused some internal family conflict when BYU comes to town.

I was born and raised in Nayarit Mexico (Western Mexico); and am number 6, out of 8 children, raised by a single mother. I joined the Church in 1996; then served a full time mission from 1997-1999 in the Colorado Denver North Mission-- English speaking (although my first language is Spanish).
My wife, Susana Torres-Villanueva, and I were married in the Oakland temple on May 2001. We have two children Susana (15); and Mauricio Martin (12). I have been a resident of Oakland since 1995. Professionally, I do Property Management for an investment company in Oakland.

In our upcoming Stake Conference, I will be speaking about missionary work, different aspects members can engage in missionary work, as well as how members can help and support the missionaries.
